Lifetime Alignment Scam

I took my 2000 Infiniti I30 to Tires Plus in Annandale, VA for an alignment per lifetime alignment purchase of $150.00. I had made an appointment a week prior for 10AM on 11/6/10.

They told me it would be ready at 12N. When I came back my car was still where I parked it. After 30 minutes on the alignment rack, they gave me my car. After 3 hours at Tires Plus, I took my car to Merchants Tires on Duke Street in Alexandria, VA for wheel balancing.

Merchants did an free alignment check. They told me that my car was seriously out of alignment. They told me to return it to Tires Plus.

Now I don't know if I EVER really had my car aligned from them.

I purchased the lifetime alignment from tires plus. Every time I have taken it in to get aligned, they refuse to do it unless I pay them to do unnecessary work.

On my last attempt, they quoted me $1200 in repairs that were required before they would consider doing the alignment I paid for.

I took the vehicle to a local shop who found nothing wrong and aligned it for $50. BTW, my car is not even worth $1200.

Guest

I once bought a 3-year alignment plan with TIre Plus. After my first alignment, the car was still pulling to the left so i took it back for them to check again.

I had to wait for almost 4 hours before they attended to my car.

That was the Alexandria VA branch.

Those guys are the worst scams i can i ever think of.

Guest

I wouldn't trust Merchant's either they are aven a BIGGER scam.

Guest

Can't do alignments correctly. Can't even balance tires right.

Can't replace valve stems correctly. Screws up routine repairs on a daily basis. You'd think a place with "Tires" in its name could do these basic things!! But NO!

And I'm not even mentioning all the scams they've been pulling for years. "Lifetime" packages (they're always a scam), not even doing the "repairs" they charge customers for and doing unnecessary work when your car doesn't need it. Taking your car to these thieves is a huge risk. Don't do it.

It'll cost you hundreds (or thousands) that you could really use. Not to mention your car could be ruined.

Tires Plus has got to be the most crooked bunch of scammers out there right now. How they stay in business.......

DOUG T Kae

Whoa! another one, whats going on out there, question caliberation issues,on both sites need to bring the manufacturer of these fine machines (alignment) into the picture and hold someone accountable , shake that tree and see what falls out, most likely a Mechanic is gonna look *** again.

but reality is well trained mechanics with confidence in their abilities would bring an inaccurate machine to the attention of his superiors. Now that we have S.A.S.(steering angle sensors) T.C.S.(traction control systems),L.D.W.(Lane Departure Warnings)and S.C.S. (stability control systems) a properly caliberated alignment machine is imperative .

imagine if you would, a suprise in traffic as you make a serious evasive manuver, and the vehicle you just had aligned stripping the steeringwheel from your control and slamming you into the object you intended to miss.after the crash who's to say if it was caliberated or not , it's all smashed up now. :(

Tires Plus lied when said what needed done

My son took his car to Tires Plus for one thing: to get a free flat tire repair (since they said they would when he bought 2 new tires from them over a year ago). He asked what front brake job would cost. They "found" a broken stabilizer bar, then said both front often fail at the same time so better replace both. lie #1: those metal bars don't fail at about the same time like some other parts do. lie #2: wanted $79 to replace the 'dirty' brake fluid (just like others have reported). lie #3: rear brakes were fine they said, but they wanted $79 to adjust them. Don't trust them.

so when do you accept responsibility for your car's maintenance. did you know that maintaining a car is a little pricey sometimes.

you can either fix the car or buy a new one. if neither sounds good, go to autozone and have at it and see if you can do the same.

Guest

yes mr CASE you are correct on some counts but are are wrong on drum brakes you don't have to have someone adjust them when you back up and apply the brakes firmly they automaticly ajust would you want to pay for that. THAT would be a nooooo.

YES tires plus trys to rape us everytime we go in there.

we went in for one thing and they tryed to sell us all new brakes the only problem was we just replaced all our brakes 3 months before. we no longer go there!

Guest

What did they lie about? You had a broken sway bar link so they wanted to replace two.

Yes they could do one but a week later when the other one broke you would have been pissed you had to go back. Brake fluid does get dirty and what makes it dirty is that over time the lines corrode and the copper content from corrosion begins to destroy your brake system. Thats why they suggest a brake flush. Its called routine maintenance.

And finally yes drum brakes do need adjusted since oh about the last century. Your not wanting to maintain your car should not have anything to do with trusting this company.

Wheel Works/TiresPlus are a front for steeling money and ripping off customers

I have worked with Wheel Works/TiresPlus as a store manager and they've withheld my pay from OT and from bonus and from false costing of Bridgestone and Firestone tires. They force us into selling their product and then the change and show a differnt cost only after you sell the product.

They also force us into manipulating customers into using the store credit card for purchases, they make us lie to customers and give false hope. There have even been cases that some store managers up sale and rip off customers and when I stood up and said that this isn't right and will not tolerate this then my DM told me to shut up or I'd be fired. I waited till I could stand it any longer then I finally had to stand up and fight. I sued the company then they fired me in retaliation.

To make it worse they are fighting my case and accusing me of fraud for suing them.

This truely not the company to either do business nor find employee. Once this was a great company till TiresPlus and Firestone took over and their policies of ripping off their customers and employees became their business plan

Mr.W, i agree with you about the wheel works.

I also work for wheel works before but i quit because i dont like the company rules. However, the store is not a problem but the main problem is the stinky rotten Wheel Works District Manager, Len valverde. He *** some many people up already. There are many ex-store managers that complained from not get what they should've got and file a lawsuit against the company. And then all of them were originally a store manager get demoted to be a sales associates and then get fired.

There is a rumor that Len got mad af the Wheel Works HR Dan Sullivan because Dan got a better offer from other company and give two weeks notice resignation to Len. Len told Dan that he doesnt have to give two weeks notice, he can just quit right away. That is totally wrong.

Len is abusing his power as a district manager and countless employees have beed suffered because of him. The company also didnot pay the workers who work more than 5 hours for O.T lunch. There was an investigation at the end of year 2011 where some authorities come and check the company payroll record that if the company pay O.T lunch to the worker who cant take lunch after work more than 5 hours. During that time, the whole company get paid O.T lunch for a month and they stopped paying after the investigation is done.

I have friends that work af Firestone and i asked them if their company did this kind of things. They were suprised that actually Wheel Works did all this despicable things in fact that both are under a same company, BFSRO.

I hope that The justice will arrived soon to get Len, like there is a saying "what goes around comes around".

Prior to a long road trip, I had my oil changed @ a Tire Plus. Two days into my trip I noticed a major oil leak.

I took the car to a nearby Tire Plus @1:30pm the day before Thanksgiving to ensure that they fix it in case it was from the service previously provided. I anticipated a little push back and fortunately they were able to look at my car in an hour. In less than 20 minutes they told me I had a rear main engine seal leak and it would cost almost $2000 to fix! I couldn’t believe it!!!

I figured that the filter wasn't placed correctly when I had the oil changed. I later took it to a friend and he tightened the filter which slowed the leak drastically. Upon my return home (600 miles later) I visited my Tire Plus where they said there is no rear engine seal leak.

Not sure who to trust these days. On the upside…I don’t have costly repairs.

Guest

I used to go to Wheel Works to buy all my racing tires for my track cars. I spent tens of thousands of dollars a year here.

One day it all changed. I believe its when Tiresplus took over. The labor rates went up, and the quality of work went down. Even employees who i worked with for years suggested i go elsewhere, i was very disappointed.

To make things worse i brought in my wifes car, she came to pick it up and they told her she needed new shocks, they even said it would be dangerous for her to drive home without them. I was out of town and she told me she felt pressured to do the work. She got a hold of me in the middle of the job so I told her to ask for the parts back. Surprise surprise when she went to pick up the car, the garbage had already been collected that day.

Really? at 6pm on a Saturday? I checked out the car at my shop and nothing was changed, in fact a cleaner was sprayed on all the shocks which caused the paint to peel. I took photos and called the BAR.

Sure enough Wheel Works wanted to write me a check very quickly and sign papers saying i wouldn't talk about it.

HA, yah right, stopped payment on my credit card and here you go wheel works! Dont do business with them, period!

Chris w Frm

The DM use to be Jeff Gray and now the new DM is even worse, and his name is Len Valverde. I was under the impression that the company use him as a pon and made him do things that were not CA law or BAR approved.

I know the company has had multiple visit from the BAR but nothing serious has happened. One has to wonder if the Firestone corp. has them in their pocket for payroll or not. I have seen and pointed out the to both my DM and my HR rep.

the constant tax evasion that the company lets happen, by selling a ticket then give a fake invoice to the customer and then after they leave they change the work order parts down to nothing and what use to be the tax from the parts is now reinputted into the labor for more profit. I told them that not only is this dishonest to both the customers and the state but you are steeling from your own company because the company pays DM and Str. Mgrs. from their profits.

Then didn't like it when I showed them the information that I had and they threaten my multiple times to stop what I was doing. But when something is wrong its just that wrong.

Chris w Frm

I agree you are right and I have seen it happen. I have been at the Wheel Works stores before they were bought out and afterwards and I agree they are diffenantly not the same two companies

Not a true price quote !!

When the so called "manager" quoted me a price on the battery he never told me that they would add a $19.00 charge to install it..I just bought a battery at a competitor and there was NO charge to install the battery. Also I had a coupon for $22.00 oil change and they charged me $24.49 and NO credit for my coupon...That is OK, because I will never go to tires plus again..I will go to get my tires rotated and then leave.....You may say what is a couple of dollars, well when you are on social security and every dollar counts that $22.50 could buy some groceries....

Poor Oil Change

I visited tires plus (Minot ND) to get an oil change. After being there for over an hour in the 30 min oil change bay I asked what the problem was. They said the "tech" was looking for the oil filter. I had to tell them that they needed to remove the skid plate to get to it. The bad thing is that the next morning at home I discovered that out of the 8 screws that hold the skid plate up only the front two were still installed. It was pretty hard to miss seeing how the skid plate was hanging pretty low to the ground. I did let tires plus know of the mishap and they provided me with some screws so I could correct the problem. Can't wait until winter is over so I can start doing my own oil changes again. *** -10 degree weather.

I used to work at this particular location, and I can agree with the employees mishandling of your car. Most of the employees there are young and not properly train on vehicle mechanics.

I seen them do crazy thing to cut corners. Even some of the shift managers had issues.

I would wonder how they even got that position. Not a very professional environment at all.

Ripped off by Tire Plus

Tires Plus was recommended from a person that I thought I could trust, but after the first ten minutes of a emergency situation, I realized I was dealing with a bunch of *** holes that could care less about customer care and more about making money for doing as little as possible. We were stuck dealing with them when we had finished with trying to let them do there job we had been there three times to fix one tire that was flat and they still hadn't fixed it right. I will tell everyone I know and meet to never go there. Really Bad Company!!!!!!!

I went to tires plus in Waldorf Md.bought tires,,, needed them, bought lifetime balance rotation. to this day can not get the Techs to bal/rotate.

The shop said they would clean house,,,went from bad to worst, told I was in need of new brake system front and rear,,,900.00 later, wrong. I went else where, rotors turned, for little after telling them how I was told relacement needed. They are slick, iwait for my car will never leave car alone with the mechs. as they are called.

I see how they take advantage of Females when they stop in for service.

the 800 # on the bill is just like the tires plus comp. no exsistant.you waste your time explaining the problem. Nothing is passed on.

This is the worst report ever. You need more details.

Right now you're spouting off a bunch of generic statements.

What exactly happened? From what I've gathered so far you probably needed a new tire but were too cheap to buy one, so they tried repairing it a few times to please you, but the repair didn't work.

I went to this store in Jan 2011 with two rotors in hand to be turned. They told me it would be $75, I can buy new ones for that.

I declined and went elsewhere and had them turned for $16 which is about right! I will not ever go back there.

the wipers on new gm trucks are very expensive and i believe only one manufacturer makes them, $80 to $90 sound about right, and no you cant convert them to a cheaper blade as of yet. im guessing there was an LOF added to this ticket also.

Tires Plus ripped me off did not do the work

I took my car in for a oil change, and they said I needed new radiator hoses, coolant flush, new tires, transmission flush, thermostat. They said the transmission fluid was so bad they didn't know if they should do it but they would. I had them fix the hoses and coolant flush. Now a year later I had to shell out another $500.00 to have this fixed because they never fixed the problem. When I called corporate office they got me the district manager and basically he said not there problem because I didn't take it back there and it only has a warranty of 12,000 miles and I was at 13,000. When I took my car to a transmission place and had it checked out , they said they don't know what tires plus was talking about that my car was fine. I also had to get new tires that day because my 50,000 mile tires only made it to 19,000. I asked tires plus how can this be, they told me I must be a hard driver. If i was to call the tire company I could do that. So I did they said they would be happy to replace the tires if I would just go back and have tires plus send in one of the tires. When I went back to tires plus they said they would not do that. I addresses all these issues with the corporate office, they did not care he was so busy trying not to take the blame rather having concern on what tires plus was trying to do to people. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

My girlfriend went in for an oil change and they told her eher car needed 1,400 worth of work for a head gasket replacement, and they proceeded to tell her that once they had a head gasket go out in the middle of the night in a remote area and they were left stranded. I am a mechanic and there is nothing wrong with her vehicle. I was unable to do the oil change because i was out of town. These people should be ashamed of themselves. In addition to that they told her that the wheel bearings were loose and her tire was about to fall off. Umm wheel bearings dont get loose the wear from friction yes and they can wear out but they don't get loose, again i am a mechanic. I am so pissed at this place, bunch of croooooooooks,. never go there never never never never.

Wheel bearings DO get loose. If loose enough, it can fail state safety inspection (in states that have safety inspections). The fact that this "mechanic" doesn't know this makes me question whether he knows how to diagnose a leaking head gasket properly.

yes wheel brngs do get loose....thank god someone else pointed that one out....wheel brngs are just like any other wearable item on your vehicle, yes they wear from friction, an etc...

Tires Plus East Side Madison Wisconsin. These guys are terrible with customer service.

I went there to get my daughters car fixed. It needed an alignment plus i had them do there free total inspection because the brakes were a little soft. After the inspection they told me the front brakes were ok ,but the rear brakes were completely shot ,i needed rotors, calipers and pads,so i had them replace them The alignment and rear brakes came to $704.00. Waited for the car from 9am till 1pm .

After a week of driving my daughter told me the alignment was off it pulled hard to the left and the front end would shake when the speed got to 50 miles per hour.Plus she barely had brakes. So i took it back, while i was there they told me it was my front brakes ,that was causing the problem ,the ones that were ok a week prior to this, Plus it had brand new tires on it i had bought at Weber Tire In Bristol Wisconsin which were placed on the vehicle one day prior to the alignment.Mounted and balanced by Weber Tire. They tried to tell me the tires weren't new and the balance was off by 1 oz on each tire and they had to rebalance each one. I watched them check the tires and there was only one tire that they added any weight to.During the return to Tires plus with my daughters car i waited 3.5 hours as they decided what they should do to fix the problem.

It wasn't until i told them i wasn't going to spend another 704 dollars that they finally decided to correct there errors at there cost. Which may or may not of been on the up and up. I also had work done on my wife's car 300+ dollars to have a thermostat replaced, and 90 of that was to inspect the struts. The struts were ok but because they hadn't been replaced at 50,000 it was suggested i return when they got the struts in to have the front ones replaced.

When i was resolving the problem with my daughters car they told me the struts were in ,i should be there at 7am the next morning to assure they could get right at it.I showed up at 6:45 and they opened at 7 and they told me it would be a couple hours because the struts weren't in they had to wait for napa auto parts to open,so i concealed and left. finally got fed up with the lies and excuses.

While i was spending time there i noticed there were numerous people returning to have the repairs re-done because they weren't satisfied with there auto repairs. One woman waited hours for her car and it had been done sitting outside and no one told her. When she went to pay they forgot to align it,and asked if she wanted to wait longer Total disrespect for there customers

This place in Madison Wisconsin needs help they are terrible with there customers ,i won't be returning.

Tries to sell you things you do not need.

Every time I went to Tires Plus in York, PA I was sold things I did not go in for. I finally got tired of always spending more money than anticipated and I started to question their ethics. When they called me and told me my brake bearings were rotted and needed to be replaced I said no, I will get it done elsewhere. When I went in to pick up my car and told the clerk that I did not believe them anymore another employee there started to laugh. I asked what was so funny and he said you will believe it when your tire falls off. I asked if he honestly thought my car was unsafe to drive and he said that is your problem lady. I took my car to the Buick dealer who said not only is there no such thing as a brake bearing but my brakes and tires are fine and only charged me a service fee for checking it instead of the $300+ Tires plus wanted to charge me. I will never go there again and tell everyone I know what a rip off they are.

Tires Plus lifetime wheel alignment & balance is a ripoff.

Tires Plus gives the hard sale on their lifetime wheel alignment and balance but when you try to use it they are always too busy to provide the service. When they do have the time there is always a reason(s) the car can't be aligned or balanced; something is bent and always needs replacing before they can honor the $300 lifetime promise.

Never send your older kids for service because they will be treated disrespectfully. Our family will take our five cars elsewhere.

Do not use this company unless you want to get ripped off. Bad business d

I'm sorry to hear that. My experience with them has been positive.

I live in Florida and have two vehicles with the lifetime brakes and lifetime alignments and I've taken both vehicles for alignments in 4 month intervals with no issues at all. I call up, schedule an appt and they do the work and provide me with the before and after adjustment specs for each wheel. I haven't had to put anything extra into the car other than bearings on one wheel that was legitimately needed. I also have used different locations within Florida for service and it made no difference.

I can say with all sincerity, I've had no issues with the customer service or mechanical work performed on my vehicles. I can only guess the issues you're experiencing is related to a regional operations issue in your area.

Guest

I have had the opposite experience. I have had their lifetime alignment, rotation and balance on my car for 10 years and they have never refused to service it.

Maybe there is something legitimately wrong with your car. You can always go to another tires plus or Firestone (they honor tires plus lifetime alignment as well) location if your worried that your particular location is just trying to rip you off.

I agree, plus I found that different branch location, happen to have different service quality. My advice...Try a different location....maybe you we’ll get better service.

Guest

I agree. I bought lifetime rotation and bslancing from tires plus and when I came in they told me I had to pay for an alignment even though the car felt fine at all speeds.

it's indeex a sucker in. Never buy that again :sigh

Guest

There are legitimate reasons why a quality alignment can't be done. If your steering/suspension components have play, you can't do a quality alignment.

You don't have to hit a pot hole to have play. That's just normal wear and tear. They don't require you to do the steering and suspension work at Tires Plus. You can have that work done any where.

Then you take the car back to Tires Plus to have it aligned once there is no play.

Also, you can't arrrive 1 hour before close and expect to be served. A reasonable person would take an appointment.

Guest

tires plus in perry ga. got me too .

aligned my car and 12000 miles later my tires are ruined. 700 bucks down the drain.no i didnt hit anything in the road either.

Comment number 4 is the best comment so far.

Is it Tires Plus' fault that your rude kids keep running into *** and bending wheels and suspension parts? I'm sure they would be glad when you take your fleet of old beat-up clunkers elsewhere.

Also, they're doing you a favor. They could have just aligned your jalopy and not told you something was loose, or balanced a bent wheel so you would just shut up.

I have never turned anyone on my customers away telling them that the lifetime alingment nor even a lifetime reblanace. these are sold so that I will see you again and again and gain more and additional business from you.

oil changes, standard manufacturer recommendations etc... on a daily basis the store are am with in Jacksonville, FL do 5-10 tickets that make us no money but it does make a customer happy because we are doing what is right.

Broke my wifes car

My wife went there for an oil change. She calls me up about an hour later and says they are using a torch on her car. Turns out they stripped 3 lug nugs. They only replaced one, I found out they stripped 3 when I did the oil change myself the next time. They were using the torch to heat up the hub, which is fine.I used to be a mechanic myself. However, the mechanic,or manager mad at the stripped lugs turned the wheel by the hub, this spins the steering wheel too fast and breaks the clockspring for the airbag in the steering wheel. Naturally the airbag light was on. They flatly denied any wrongdoing and for over $500.00 in damage they offered us 2 free oil changes...WHOOOPEEE.

Tires Plus = poor service

If your going to Tires Plus store in Leesburg Florida be prepared to be disappointed and lied to. Bought a new set of tires, broke off a number of lug nuts, tried to cover it up. When asking two different(so called) mechanics I received two different answers. The tires bounced really bad, after taking them back six times and continued excuses and lies I just took them to another tire store and had them rebalanced and then they were ok. Also had a front end alignment and pulled to one side, had to go to another shop to have redone. They absolutely would not give me my money back, their warranty is a joke. Do your self a favor and stay away from Tires Plus...

DO NOT go here ever!!!

I had bought 4 new tires from Tires Plus with the buy 3 get the 4th free deal they had for Black Friday 2009, I told them to keep one of my tires that I recently had replaced at Toyota, only 2 months prior and they not only stole my tire but they gave me another tire instead. Then I found out that the tire they gave me, because they supposedly couldn't find mine, isn't even the right size for my car. I had to replace every tire atleast once since, one tire multiple times and it's only been a year! Very unpleased and will never get service done here EVER again, as I advice you not to as well!!!

This is hilarious.

You tell them beforehand that you wanted to keep a tire. But then they don't.

Then they give you some random tire from the used tire shed. This is hilarious. This is carelessness at it's best.

If they got your old tires mixed up, they should have at the very least gave you back a tire that was of the same size. That was extreme carelessness.

Never take your car to tires plus!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tires plus will add parts to your car without notifying you and then expect you to pay a huge bill. they take advantage of females and their headquarters doesnt care about resolving these issues..rip off. Oldsmar florida..dale. manager of store..tampa road.I will never go back and give tires plus free advertisement however long their in business..buyer beware. save your money go to real mechanics, not a place where they have little wayne blasting in the garage and have a bunch of monkeys working on your vehicle. I hate you tires plus and your lucky I'm not a pshyco.

As a female, I've never been taken advantage of. The Tires Plus at 9101 N Deerbrook Trail in Brown Deer, WI has always taken good care of me and given me the best service I've ever had.

"A bunch of monkeys working" what are you a racist or something? Sounds like a racially motivated complaint to me. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Stick to a local independent garage or a trusted Dealership for your servicing needs. DIY is good too, if you are mechanically inclined and physically fit. 8)
