YZAK, can you send me an email at social@bfrc.com? I am from the corporate office of Tire Plus and would like to learn more about your experience. This is not typical of the level of customer care that we promise our customers.

Thanks.

Tires Plus review in Camden, New Jersey: Make an appointment and wait.

Tires Plus, 1877 Rt 70,Cherry Hill, NJ. Om Monday I called and made an appointment for 11:30 AM Tuesday to have my brakes checked. I am a good customer of this store. Over the years I've purchased tiresfor my two carsthere, had brakes installed, and last week purchased 4 tires for my RAM pickup for over $900. Back to my complaint, I arrived at 11:30 on time;at 12:30 MY CAR was still in the same parking space. I went to lunch and returned at 1:50 PM: the car had not been moved. I got my keys and left and will never return. Their excuse was they had a full shop, then why have appointment? Why not call the customer and tell them? Why not call me to the counter and tell me they were running two hour behind? Somany things could have been done to accommodate a customer. NEVER AGAIN!

Freon (or refrigerant) doesn't just leak out (Well it does, but at a very very very slow rate). If your car is only 4 years old and your Freon is low (as indicated by hooking up a gauge), then it must have a leak.

If you simply charge it up, it will leak out again, and you just wasted some expensive freon (refrigerant). Low Freon is not the only thing that can cause an A/C to blow warm air. A/C compressor clutch not engaging due to a bad relay is pretty common.

In any case, A/C work can be pretty complicated and specialized work.

It's not a good idea to take this type of work to a GENERAL repair shop or ANY major chain.

This type of work should be taken to a trusted independent shop that has a reputation for SPECIALIZING in good A/C work. Sometimes you will have to drive an hour or two just to get to a shop like this.

Balancing alone will not always fix a vibration problem if the rim is bent or the tire is not round.

Many times rims are bent and are placed in the right rear for a reason. Then you go and rotate the tires and guess what happens? You will feel the vibration more because it's closer to the driver seat and now the steering wheel shimmys.

Even if Tires Plus balanced the all the wheels correctly, if the rim is bent or the tire is not round you will feel a vibration and you didn't notice it before because the tire that was not round was in the rear.

You can blame Tires Plus for the brake noise, but as far as the vibration, there is a possibility that they are not at fault and they may be right to try to sell you a tire to replace the tire that is not round. You can see that a tire is not round or wobbling when it's spinning on the tire balancing machine. Sometimes you can see a tire is not round simply by rolling it on the floor. Simply you can see it's not round just by looking at it because there are obvious cupping or flat spots.

Now on a different topic, concerning the commenter's (notelgnip's) wheel bearing, a wheel bearing doesn't have to have play to be bad. I've seen many cases where a wheel bearing is making tremendous grinding and growling noises and there's absolutely no play when you try to shake the tire when the car's in the air. A diagnosis like this is tough to make.

Tires Plus Repair

Tires plus took advantage of me because I am female

I took my car to tires plus and told them I wanted all the lights out on my dashboard which looked like a lighted Christmas tree. I wanted new tires and new "brakes" When they were done my bill was $1,600. All the lights was off the dashboard etc.. The very next day I was driving the car and the brakes went out, totally no brakes, i'm an elderly female and I was terrified. Not only the brakes but the lights were back, i was told i'd have to pay an additional $900.00 to get that fixed. Bottom line Tires Plus wanted me to pay to have the brakes repaired. No way, I called corperate and they told me I did not have to pay. Anyway, they charged me $1,600. and did nothing but change the oil and put on 4 new tires @ $199.00 for all. Now i'm stuck with this big bill and the lights are still on.

Ever since around the 1960's, federal law requires that all motor vehicles have redundant braking systems. There are 2 braking circuits. If one fails, you still have the other one unless it's the master cylinder that fails, then you have the E-brake.

Sounds to me like Tires Plus didn't do a good job inspecting your brake system.

Sounds like one of the techs put another customer's ignition key into your ignition lock and tried to turn it. Many ignition locks in shops all the across the world are broken this way.

It's hard for me to believe that tires plus gave you 4 brand new tires for free. That's got to be against company policy. I can imagine them fixing the ignition lock for you, but it's hard for me to believe about the 4 free tires.

As far as the loose wheel nuts are concerned, you are lucky you are still alive. This type of stuff (causing a wheel off) is a fireable offense (as long as management and corporate knows about it).

Tires Plus review in Dekalb, Illinois: New tires 25 miles later a blowout 6/17/10

We had a blowout, left front, brought the tire to tires plus, bought 2 fronts. They put on the left,we brought the car in & they fixed the right. 20 miles or so down the road we had a blowout on the right, new tire, they came out got tire, called charged us for another, paid it they brought it back out to the car.off we go again, approx 30 miles, another blowout on the right front. This time we went to pomps tire in deforest & got 2 new tires. They found that the valve stems were leaking causing the tire to deflate & blow the sidewalls out.Tires plus told us we ran over & punctured the tire.Needless to say 5 tires later & about $600.00, thanks to the good people at pomps we were on our way, only to find out later that the perch bolt in the steet rod had broken & made it hard to steer. They will not compensate us for any of this.I will make sure that this service manager never gets any more business from anyone we know. My husband also has to go to tire training thru goodyeatr so he was na=ot unadvised of why this happened.A very dissatisfied customer

Non-TPMS rubber valve stems are supposed to be replaced when replacing a tire unless you tell them not to. It's hilarious that Tires Plus repeatedly decided not to change them but still charged you for them.

If you look on your receipt there is probably a charge for a new valve stem.

What is a "perch .-Chevrolet! in the steet rod"?

I believe this complainer is wrong in this case.

If you didn't like the price, then why did you sign and, therefore, authorize the work order? If you read the work order, the installation charge is probably listed as a separate item. The same is true with the other car you were talking about. You are saying they charged you $20 to check out your Chevy's battery and charging system. All business have the right to price their own products and services and all consumers have the right to choose who to buy from. If you didn't like the price, then don't buy from them. It's not Tire Plus's fault that you can't or don't read work orders before you sign them. And this is in no way hidden either. It's clearly listed as an installation charge or charging/starting analysis.

This to me is clearly a case of a consumer who doesn't do his own homework before going to market.

I went for an alignment & wheel balance. I had a coupon for $20 off alignment and $15 off wheel balance. With the discount included, the total price I was quoted was at about $91, so I thought it was a pretty nice deal. I agreed to this price and was told this would...

It was wrong for Tires Plus to make you wait more than expected; however, you can't make a car drive straight if there is something wrong with the steering/suspension and/or tires. If the tires are not round or is out of shape, the car may still pull even if the alignment is perfect and the balancing of the wheels was perfect.

Alignment is not the only thing about a car that causes a pull. Tire issues causing a pull is more common then alignment issues causing a pull. If one of your tires is leaking air, that will cause a pull.

Tires Plus was wrong to make you wait more than expected, but they were right about the need to correct the tire and steering/suspension issues in order to make the car go straight.

It's a wastse of money to do an alignment with a bad tie rod because you are going to have to pay for another alignment after you replace the bad tie rod. You are double paying. How about just buy the tire, put them in the rear and do the tie rod and alignment at a later time when you have the money.

This location has changed names.. but not owners and tactics.

I\'m not sure if they lost their Tires Plus franchise or if they\'re just trying to hide from their reputation. I\'m reposting this under the new name with a link to this thread.

This has to be the most dishonest and incompetent shop I have ever had the misfortune to do business with.

I had them do a steering and suspension inspection for a car I had just bought to use for work on long road-trips. After waiting for 3 hours they came back with a list of items that needed repair. I told them to go ahead and repair everything on the list except the wheel hub bearing (they wanted close to $700 to fix it...got AAMCO to do the identical repair for $250!!)

After waiting for literally 7 hours to get the work done I was still having issues, went back to them was told " Oh, our tech missed the fact you need new ball joints as well, Tell you what we'll replace those for free since we missed them..."

Since they were closing I had to wait until the next day to get my car (missed showing up for new job on day requested!) Picked up the car, still had issues but I had had enough of that shop and went to AAMCO where they informed me that the work I had payed the last place to do had NOT BEEN DONE.

I went back and was fed a HUGE line of BS about how those repairs weren't needed immediately, you said money was tight and we did throw in the ball joints for free after all...

Here's the kicker...while driving to my new job out of state the passenger side ball joint broke and left me stranded. It turns out both ball joints on the vehicle were still factory original! Apparently it was too hard to remove the old ones so they just lied and said they did, which dang near got me killed!! :(
